Last year we were embarrassed and didn't want to say "the year of the 'cock'." This year, we feel people will take it personally if we say, "wish you a happy new year of the dog." I guess it's the same when rat year comes around. So we will simply say:

Girlie, Models, Albums...

Further to emails and suggestions from readers, here's a quick reply:

Models:

In 2004, we had regular weekly models (as in Model of the Week). But in 2005, we couldn't update the models regularly, as in weekly. And therefore, we ended up with same three models for two weeks or in some cases, an entire month.

Health problems, time constraints, etc., resulted in the above situation, but from February onwards, I expect to upload and change the models regularly. Meaning three models each week (and the ability to vote). So bear with me until February 1, and continue voting for current models.

Girlie(s):

Regular readers should have noticed that the content of See Lai follows a pattern - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are supposed to be "Girlie" days. As in pictures of "Girlie" or "Model of the Week" models. Whereas Tuesday, Thursday, and at times Saturday or Sunday are "story" days.

Once again, during 2005, "Girlie" uploads suffered and there weren't enough pictures uploaded. Well, I expect to correct this problem (starting Wednesday).

Miss Chinese International Pageant 2006

Well, it's that time of the year again. Local TV station TVB is hosting the annual Miss Chinese International Pageant 2006. Look at the pictures of models (click on each picture for a short intro in Chinese/English)

The contest will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 08:30pm local (Hong Kong) time. Who will win? Make a wild guess in the comments (here at See Lai).

I say "wild guess," because in the past See Lai readers pointed out to me that if TVB hosts Miss Chinese International Pageant, then the (most probable) winner will be Miss Vancouver or Miss Toronto from Canada.

I tried to verify readers' claims. And it does seem that Chinese Canadians usually win TVB contests. Is that a coincidence? I don't know.
